AGV and AMR Robotic Traffic for Ground Floors
ResinDek Flooring: Enhancing Concrete Floors for AMR and AGV Performance
ResinDek flooring offers an innovative solution for improving ground floor performance in warehouses using Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) and Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) fleets. While concrete is the standard foundation, it often falls short for automated systems due to:
As the manufacturers of ResinDek® flooring, we have extensive experience in providing optimal surfaces for automated warehouses. Our research shows that proper flooring significantly impacts warehouse efficiency and robot performance. When designing flooring for AMRs and AGVs, we focus on four critical factors:
- Cracks developing over time
- Uneven joints
- Surface irregularities
These imperfections impede the efficient operation of AMRs and AGVs. ResinDek flooring, installed directly over existing concrete, provides a superior surface that significantly improves automated system performance and longevity.
The process of installing ResinDek over concrete is straightforward yet highly effective. Initially, the existing concrete floor is thoroughly assessed and prepared. Any major defects are addressed to ensure a stable base. ResinDek panels are installed directly over the prepared concrete surface. These engineered panels are designed to create a level floor that meets the exacting standards required for AMR and AGV operations. The result is a composite flooring system that combines the structural strength of concrete with the precision surface of ResinDek.
Advantages of ResinDek-over-concrete solution:
- Consistently smooth and level surface for enhanced AMR and AGV navigation
- Higher resilience to constant automated traffic
- Less frequent maintenance compared to bare concrete
- Minimal disruption during installation, allowing phased implementation
By choosing ResinDek flooring over concrete, warehouse operators can:
- Transform existing ground floors into optimized surfaces for modern automated logistics
- Ensure better performance of AMRs and AGVs
- Lower maintenance costs
- Increase flexibility for future technological advancements
Flooring coatings and finishes for heavy robotic use panels
TriGard® ESD Ultra
TriGard ESD Ultra have been tested and verified according to the following standards:
Dynamic Coefficient of Friction: ASTM A326.3
- Test Procedure: Neolite sensor has material that is 95+/-3 Shore A
- Results: Average Dry: 0.62 | Average Wet: 0.47
Taber Abrasion: ASTM D4060 (Wear Resistance)
- Test Procedure: Grit aluminium oxide sandpaper is replaced every 500 cycles with 1 kg of weight
- Results: Wear Rating: 24,000 cycles
Gloss, 85 Deg: ASTM D523 (Light Reflectivity)
- Test Procedure: Tested with gloss meter geometries of 85°
- Results: 7 GRUs
TriGard® ESD
Our TriGard ESD finish is a custom-developed finish designed for use on ResinDek® flooring panels. This coating is intended for use cases that have a lot of repeated movement patterns, commonly associated with AMR and AGV robotics. ResinDek’s TriGard ESD finish has been rated to endure up to ten years of frequent and consistent robotic traffic. The Electro-Static Disappation, with which our coatings are equipped, prevents damage to electronic equipment and complies with the standards set by the ANSI/ESD Association. We also offer you the possibility of a customized version of TriGard ESD that has a rougher surface texture or the option to opt for a more/less reflective surface, depending on your company’s specific use case.
TriGard ESD has been tested and verified according to the following standards:
Dynamic Coefficient of Friction: ASTM A326.3

MetaGard® SST
A heavy-duty solution, MetaGard SST was developed to accommodate the most intensive and heavy AGV and AMR implementations. MetaGard has been tested and verified to be up to five times as wear-resistant in busy traffic areas that are not routinely cleared of dirt and debris when compared to routine flooring solutions such as concrete. This makes MetaGard the ideal solution for operations that are automatically performed by robotics without employee interaction, day in and day out. Our testing has shown MetaGard SST to be able to withstand more than two million yearly pivots by loaded AGV’s changing direction, showcasing its resilience.
MetaGard SST are custom steel panels that cover the top and sides of each flooring panel. MetaGard will ensure a smooth panel-to-panel load transfer, even on panels not equipped with the metal covering. We would recommend installing MetaGard SST in the most heavily used areas in your facility in combination with TriGard ESD
